Go eat there !!! It's very, very good! What did we have to eat? My wife had liver with mashed potatoes. It was great, apples onion liver in the perfect proportions and delicious puree. The child ordered homemade pasta. Best pasta in a long time. I was allowed to take a test. The landlord told me that only local durum wheat and spelled semolina are used. I had a salad with fried potatoes ... let's put it this way, nothing for the small hunger. The ice cream sundaes, creme brulee and apple strudel were all great. The location is cute and rustic in a half-timbered house. The staff is super personable. If it doesn't end up in the area again, I'll definitely come back. Thanks to the "Alte Goten Team!"

As an American who has lived in Germany for 2.5 years please trust when I say the ribeye speisbraten is the most incredible piece of beef I've ever eaten. I grew up on a cattle ranch and have eaten fresh beef my whole life. We happened upon this restaurant and while it's a hour drive from where we live, I'll be back as many times as possible before we leave Germany. My wife had the pork loin speisbraten and thoroughly enjoyed it, but the real shock was my nine year old daughter had the lamb speisbraten and told the cook that it was the best food she'd ever eaten.

Excellent roast pork cooked with love. Very delicious garlic sauce and first-class fried potatoes (without onions, but very crispy). The decor is not so fresh and the toilets are clean, but pennies for a liquid soap (instead of water-filled dispensers) would have to be in the face of not quite cheap prices.

Very nice cook, host seemed a bit grumpy. The food (spaghetti with tomatoes, schnitzel) was good, the Schnitzel but much smaller than expected. The landlord would rather have sold his spit roast. Good white wine.

classic restaurant to eat spit roast. Of course there are other dishes. Almost always there is a very tasty side salad. The desserts are really good here. The spit roast comes with different types of meat and is really something special. The restaurant is located on the first floor without elevator. The guest room is rustically furnished.

Best steak I've ever ate. Perfect medium rare as I requested. Love the history of the building as well. I completely recommend.

We absolutely love this restaurant, authentic food, and fantastic company. The Spießbraten is, quite simply, the best I have ever had. We were looking for a traditional restaurant and noticed the menu at the entrance of the ancient, rustic house. We were the only guests at the time and no effort was spared to conjure up the best food for us. Of course, the beechwood grill was also started for the SPIESSBRATEN. Uli & Herbert are very warm hosts and they really spoiled us with the food. I really don't know when and if I've ever eaten such delicious meat. They are true masters of their field and I hope that many guests will be able to enjoy this skill! That evening made our stay in Idar Oberstein perfect! It was a great experience ...
